About Me

My Beliefs

Hello my name is Claire Quinlan, and I am a Limerick based therapist/counsellor specializing in psychotherapy and counseling. Here you can find out a little more about who I am, my beliefs, and my approach to Mental Health Counseling and Psychotherapy.

As a psychotherapist my approach is humanistic and person centered.  Simply put, this means that I believe we are each striving to be our best selves, to be happy within ourselves – and I believe we each hold within us the possibility to achieve this!

Even so, I am a realist and understand that often the direction our lives have taken, and the obstacles or experiences we have had to overcome, may not have been our choice or of our making, and so a lot of the work that I do is in assisting you to find a way to make sense of this.

My History

I began my education with a B.A. Language and Cultural Studies and subsequently spent many years mediating to resolve conflict, in the area of Human Resources and Personnel. As my career developed, I realised there was a growing need for accessible and professional psychotherapy and counselling. To date, I have completed a Diploma in Psychology and Childcare and Masters in Psychotherapy and Counselling. As part of my commitment to continuous personal growth and training, I, myself attend regular supervision from an experienced psychotherapist.

In addition, I have completed training in Suicide Intervention and Awareness. I am also a registered member of the A.C.P.C. (Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists Ireland), and therefore, am governed by the A.C.P.C. code of ethics. For more information, go to http://www.acpc.ie
